Surya Lama

Mr. Surya was born in Dhading, an isolated district of Nepal situated on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley. He started trekking as a porter in 2004. He faced many hardships working as a porter. Slowly he upgraded himself and started to work as a guide and then as a leader.

Now with a career spanning over 20 years in the outdoor travel industry, he has led and designed trekking all over Nepal. During his journey he was mesmerized by the beauty of his country and is motivated to showcase his country to the world. He spent most of his years in the mountains, so he considers it as a home where he feels alive.

Mr Surya has a unique combination of leadership, industry knowledge and business acumen. He founded Igloo Himalaya Treks to pave the way for trekkers to come and witness Nepal’s incredibly rich biodiversity embraced by iconic mountains and rivers. With a deep-rooted belief that trekking is more than just an activity – it’s a life-changing experience – he is committed to providing unforgettable adventures that inspire, challenge and transform. He wishes that every trekker enjoys and returns happily with tonnes of beautiful memories from Nepal.
