Trekking Gears List: Gears & Equipment for Every Trek

Packing wisely is essential for a comfortable and enjoyable trekking experience in Nepal, where weather conditions can shift quickly between warm days and chilly nights. It’s important to be well-prepared and pack efficiently for all kinds of weather. During your trek, you’ll carry a small daypack of about 40–50 liters with essentials like water, snacks, a jacket, and a camera. Your main duffel bag will be carried by porters or pack animals, so please keep its weight below 20 kilograms to ensure it’s easy and manageable for them to transport.

Essential Clothing

  • Base Layers: Lightweight, moisture-wicking T-shirts or thermal tops.
  • Mid Layers: Fleece or wool sweaters to keep you warm.
  • Outer Layers: A windproof and waterproof jacket and pants are must-haves.
  • Down Jacket: For high-altitude treks, a warm down jacket is essential.
  • Trekking Pants & Shorts: Quick-dry and comfortable for long walks.
  • Underwear & Socks: Several pairs of breathable and warm trekking socks.

Accessories & Gear

  • Headlamp with Extra Batteries.
  • Water Bottle or Hydration Bladder (2L minimum).
  • Water Purification Tablets or Filter.
  • Trekking Poles: Helpful for steep climbs and descents.
  • Camera or Smartphone for Photos.
  • Power Bank or Solar Charger: Electricity can be limited in remote areas.

Footwear

  • Trekking Boots: Strong, waterproof, and well broken-in boots.
  • Camp Shoes/Sandals: For relaxing in the teahouse after a long trek.

  • Duffel Bag (Up to 25kg): Your main trekking bag carried by a porter.
