Ghorepani-Poon hill with Mardi Himal Trek

12 Days

Nepal’s Annapurna Region is one of the most rewarding trekking areas in the himalayas, offering everything from classic mountain viewpoints to peaceful, less-traveled trails. By combining the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek with the Mardi Himal Trek, trekkers get the perfect balance of cultural experience, scenic variety and quiet alpine adventure.

Overview

The journey begins with the well-loved Ghorepani Poon Hill route, famous for its unforgettable sunrise views. From the top of Poon Hill, the sun slowly lights up the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, revealing peaks like Annapurna I, Nilgiri, and Machapuchare in glowing shades of gold.

As you walk, the trail leads you through vibrant rhododendron forests, charming Gurung and Magar villages, and terraced farmland that shows the region’s traditional lifestyle. Popular stops like Ghandruk and Ghorepani offer warm teahouses, lively cultural encounters, and cozy mountain hospitality. This part of the trek is moderate, accessible, and perfect for getting a taste of Himalayan trekking.

After enjoying the classic viewpoints, the adventure continues toward the more peaceful and lesser-known Mardi Himal route. This trail climbs through mossy forests and ridges that gradually open to breathtaking views of Machapuchare the iconic “Fishtail”holy  mountain along with Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

As you approach High Camp, sitting at around 4,500 meters, the scenery becomes even more dramatic. The mountains feel incredibly close, the air turns crisp, and the narrow ridgeline creates a true feeling of wilderness. Compared to other Annapurna treks, Mardi Himal remains relatively quiet, allowing you to enjoy nature in its purest form.

Why Combine These Treks?

Blending the Ghorepani Poon Hill with Mardi Himal treks gives you the best of both worlds. The first part offers colorful villages, cultural interaction, and famous viewpoints. After Tadapani, the crowds thin out, and the trail transitions into a more serene, untouched environment as you move toward Mardi Himal.

This combination shows the Annapurna region’s full diversity from lively settlements and lush forests to rugged high-altitude landscapes. It’s ideal for trekkers who want a richer, more complete Himalayan experience without taking on extremely difficult routes.
