Jamacho Hike – 1 Day Short Hiking Adventure

Escape city chaos with a 1-day adventure? Shivpuri Nagarjuna National Park is an ideal natural escape—perfect for everybody. This Jamacho hike provides a perfect mixture of calmness and natural beauty. The destination of this 1-day hike is Jamacho Gumba, a serene Buddhist shrine found at the top of the hill. Climb the tower for a breathtaking 360 view of the Kathmandu valley, with visibility of Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath) below, and on clear days, a breathtaking Himalayan horizon towards the north.

You’ll begin your ascent through a beautiful forest trail, leaving the motor road behind for a quieter hiking trail of about 5 km uphill. 3-4 hours of hiking, leading to the top at Jamacho Gumbo! Dig into your packed lunch with an unforgettable view around you. Go around the monastery, and climb the view tower to take a few memorable pictures with the mountains. Afterward, a 2-3 hour descent brings you back to the gate, where your vehicle is ready to return you to the hotel.

Note:

This is a moderately easy hike made for anyone with basic fitness. The total trail time is about 5-6 hours (3-4 hours up, 2-3 hours down). We recommend carrying 2 liters of water and a few snacks to munch on, sunscreen, and a rain jacket. It’s the perfect getaway trip!

Departures & Availability

Your day begins at 8 am with a guide arriving at your hotel. From there, you will be transported in a private vehicle to the entrance of Shivpuri Nagarjuna National Park and start your short hike at around 9 am.
